Bug Balm is great for hiking, air travelers, gardeners and for use during sporting events. When you need something with a little more staying power.

We like to swipe this balm on the parts where ticks and black flies like to go most often: behind ears, behind knees, back of the neck, underarms, and belly buttons.

Swipe directly onto desired area, or use a clean finger to apply desired amount.  Do not use near eyes or mouth.

Bug Balm is available in two convenient sizes:
Small Bug Balm is 0.5 ounces
Large Bug Balm is now 20% larger, 2.65 ounces!

No insect repellent will work against all insects 100% of the time.  We recommend doing daily tick checks, and remove any attached ticks using a tick key or tweezers.

Like my bug spray, I made this balm because I was concerned about the effects of petroleum based products and the potential impact on myself and my family.  I developed this balm using essential oils that have been shown to have repellent effects against ticks, mosquitos and biting flies.

This balm starts with our super popular and moisturizing Magical Lotion (organic beeswax, organic coconut oil, organic shea butter and now with ORGANIC avocado oil!), and includes Geranium, Citronella, Lavender, Lemon Eucalyptus, Cedarwood, Spearmint and Alaskan Yellow Cypress.

You will find other all-natural bug repellents on the market, but many of them contain oils that are not recommended for use on children under age 10, such as clove bud oil, peppermint, wintergreen, rosemary and others.

How to Use Repellents Safely

All repellents can cause side effects, especially if you apply too much of it or too often. For example, they can all cause rashes and skin irritation. In addition, DEET might cause disorientation, particularly in high concentrations, which is why Consumer Reports doesn't recommend repellents that are more than 30 percent DEET.

So use all repellents with care. Here's how:

Apply just enough to cover exposed skin, and only for as long as needed.
Don’t use it on wounds, cuts, or broken or irritated skin.
Do not apply near eyes or mouth.
Adults should put it on children, since children often put their hands in their eyes and mouths.
Don’t use near food, and wash hands after application and before eating or drinking.
At the end of the day, wash treated skin with soap and water, and wash treated clothing in a separate wash before wearing again.
Wash repellent off your skin and launder treated clothes.

This product is not registered with the EPA, as products using essential oils are considered by the EPA to be "generally recognized as safe".
